(six-hour, full-day class)

D2) Bluebeam is Not a "Four-Letter" Word!

Presented by Matt Kindall, City of Oregon City

Class Description:

The combination of advancing technology and Covid protocols has forced a lot of us into the 21st century with plan review. Going from pen and paper to a new software seems like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be! This course assumes you will bring at least basic skills as a Plans Examiner, and shows you how to build off of that to do plan review the way you always have, just digitally! More “tips and tricks” than plan review how-to, you will learn how to use this program to your advantage.

This is a custom-developed class, a thorough full-day session put together specifically by and for OBOA members.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain confidence in your ability to figure out how to do the things you want to do in terms of markups.
  • Learn how to: set up your workflow, build your profile and save your presets, make custom tools and stamps, etc. You will bring your knowledge base, and convert it into a new way of working!

Class Materials/Books to Reference:

  • IMPORTANT: This class will be a live working demo, so it is imperative attendees have dual monitors and access directly to Bluebeam software as you will be working directly in the program.

  • It is also very important to have a strong and stable wi-fi internet connection (wired strongly suggested). Documents and sample plans will be provided in advance -- and should be readily available/referenced during class (printing in advance also suggested).

Target Audience:

  • Plans Examiners, Permit Technicians, Administrative Staff
  • Anyone working in Bluebeam or who is interested in learning about the systems being used for electronic plan review

Level of Expertise:

  •  Beginner to Intermediate

About our Presenter:

Matt is fairly new to the industry - coming from a background in truck driving, this was a complete career change for him a few years ago. Bluebeam just made sense to Matt right out of the gate! He is a hobby photographer and feels there are a lot of similarities with Photoshop in terms of layout and design. Matt really enjoys figuring out ways to bend this program to his will! He states the reason for creating this class is to help some of the amazing, welcoming people he has met in this industry in the one way he feels he really can.
