When the path through the International Building Code results in a requirement for a water-based fire protection system, it will need an adequate and reliable water supply. This seminar describes the responsibility of the contractor, design professional, and authority having jurisdiction for proper installation of fire service mains and their accessories as addressed in NFPA 24.

Class begins promptly at 8:30 am and ends by 4:00 pm and offers six hours of continuing education units/credit. A hot breakfast and lunch, all-day coffee and refreshments will be provided to registered attendees.

Learning Objectives

• Identify the standards and regulations that govern the installation of private fire service mains
• Describe water supply sources, including fire department connections and the requirements governing them.
• Identify and describe the various valves used in private service mains
• Identify restraint, bury depth, and protection requirements of underground installations
• Discuss the requirements for documentation, as well as inspection, testing and maintenance for fire service mains
